Strategic Sourcing Manager

Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to support the Strategic Sourcing team. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (3-4 days in office per week).

Role Overview:
The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in driving innovative sourcing strategies, enhancing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance within BMO's procurement processes. This position involves collaborating with internal stakeholders, executing strategic sourcing initiatives, and leveraging data-driven insights to improve procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to business partners, particularly within People & Culture.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including competitive events and contract negotiations.
- Develop and execute category management frameworks aligned with strategic goals.
- Conduct market assessments and identify preferred suppliers to mitigate risks.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation.
- Use performance metrics to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Stay informed on leading procurement practices to enhance organizational processes.

Must-Have Skills:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract negotiations.
- Background in a banking or financial institution is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing/procurement processes and controls.
- Proficient in contract negotiation, business analysis, and project delivery.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Ability to independently lead sourcing and contract negotiation processes.

Nice to Have Skills:
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Assertive with excellent contract knowledge and ability to influence senior stakeholders for desired outcomes.
