Procom is currently looking for a System Test Specialist for our client in the private sector

6.1       One of the incumbents shall have at least 7 years of directly related experience and the second shall have at least 5 years of directly related experience, along with the following:
 
  • Experience validating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions and integrated systems that support operational, mission-critical, industrial, transportation, defence, simulation, training, or other real-time user-driven environments involving multiple vendors, systems and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT), or equivalent validation and verification activities.

6.2       Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
 
  • Knowledge and experience with system testing, test engineering principles and validation of large-scale projects for software and hardware.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for requirements management, test management, defect tracking and reporting.
  • Experience working with third party suppliers, ensuring adherence to project requirements and quality standards.
  • Ability to develop and execute on test plans/protocols/cases, and report on the test analysis/metrics and provide recommendations to management/supervisors.
  • Analyze and identify test coverage gaps and missing links between requirements and tests, including test procedures developed by other testers.
  • Skill in professional discussions with internal customers, external vendors and management.
  • Skill in writing clear, cohesive, and concise documentation that is easily understandable by colleagues, management, and clients.
  • Skill in communicating clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and non-technical staff and management.
  • Knowledge of test maturity models such as TMMI.

STATEMENT OF WORK
 
  1. BACKGROUND

THE client is the private sector, non-share capital corporation that owns and operates Canada's civil air navigation service (ANS). The client co-ordinates the safe and efficient movement of air traffic in Canadian domestic airspace and international airspace assigned to Canadian control. Through its coast-to-coast operations, The client provides air traffic control, flight information, weather briefings, aeronautical information, airport advisory services, and electronic aids to navigation. ANS facilities include 7 area control centres and forty-one 41 control towers. The Company also operates 58 flight service stations and eight flight information centres. These facilities are supported by a network of over 1,000 ground-based aids to navigation located across the country.

2.0       SCOPE

2.1       The client’s Simulation Systems department is replacing its Simulation Training System for Air Traffic Services and requires two System Test Specialists for test script development and execution for end user functional and integration testing. The solution consists of a commercial off-the-shelf simulation and training platform integrated with the client developed systems and supporting infrastructure. Testing activities will include validation of instructor, student and administrative workflows, system integrations, workstation deployments, and operational training scenarios.

2.2       The Test Specialists (‘the Contractors’), under guidance and supervision of the client Test Lead, will support the development of test cases required to validate and verify the requirements of the ATS Training Simulator Modernization project, and upon delivery of the solution and initiation of the Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) phase, the Test Specialists will support the execution of the developed test cases. High-level accountabilities of the Test Specialists include: analyzing requirements for test case writing, implementing defined test strategies and test plans, test case creation & reviews, test case execution, logging of results, detection and identification of defects/issues, logging of defects/issues, support defect triage as well as retesting when resolutions are delivered.

3.0       THE CLIENT Technology Project Environment

The client Project Environment places a high emphasis on quality. Quality expectations of Contractors and internal service providers are high. The contracted Test Specialists are expected to learn the system and solution to identify aspects of the solution that do not adhere to the requirements and expected system or solution behaviour. The Test Specialists are also expected to evaluate non-functional requirements, developing test scripts for end-user usability, user experience, performance, capacity and responsiveness.

4.0       CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1       Under the overall direction of the Manager, Simulation Systems Modernization and supervision of the Senior Systems Test Lead, the Contractors shall be responsible for the following activities and deliverables:
a)         Learn the software, system and solution involved as they relate to the assigned test activities.
b)         Design, develop and execute test cases, using project specific documentation as input, including requirements defined in Azure DevOps, Test Plans, vendor design documents and Statements of Work (SOWs).
c)         Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, test execution results, and defects within Azure DevOps.
d)         Validate the capability of systems to meet functional, non-functional, system and performance requirements.
e)         Implement the contents of Test Strategies and Test Plans through a range of software test approaches.
f)          Follow and align with standard business operating policies, processes and work instructions.
g)         Participate in project status, test planning, test status, defect triage and team meetings.
h)        Participate in defect review meetings and technical discussions with suppliers regarding issue investigation, corrective actions and retesting.
i)          Develop and provide input to Status Reports.
j)          Ensuring deliverables meet the required quality standards.
k)         Be available to attend and/or participate in scheduled testing activities and defect triage sessions.
l)          Participate in discussions with the external vendor and internal THE CLIENT teams regarding testing, test results and defects.

5.0       CONTRACTOR DELIVERABLES

5.1       In association with the above listed responsibilities, the Contractors have the following specific deliverables:
a)         Test case listing that provides traceability to 100% of assigned requirements within designated scope areas, subject to requirements availability and approval by the Test Lead.
b)         Test cases for adequate and appropriate test coverage of the assigned features and functional areas.
c)         Test execution results for assigned test scripts by recorded results in Azure DevOps and provide evidence of execution and outcomes in accordance with the approved Test Plan.
d)         Complete and reproducible bug/defect work items in Azure DevOps containing required evidence, logs, screenshots, impact assessments, and reproduction steps for all issues discovered.
e)         Participation in regular reviews of test cases, coverage and results.
f)          Monthly Status Reports (reports and attendance at meeting) including completion status and forecasting.
g)         Execute retesting and regression testing activities associated with defect corrections and software releases.
5.2       Deliverables shall be considered acceptable when:
a)         Reviewed and approved by the client Senior Systems Test Lead.
b)         Submitted in required formats.
c)         Meet project documentation standards.
d)         Demonstrate traceability to assigned requirements.
e)         Are free from material defects or omissions.
