Systems Engineering Operations Specialist:
On behalf of our manufacturing client, Procom is searching for a Systems Engineering Operations Specialist for a 6 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at our client’s Cambridge, Ontario office.

Systems Engineering Operations Specialist - Job Description:
The Systems Engineering Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting production and shop-floor systems at the manufacturing plant. This hands-on position involves troubleshooting and maintaining applications, servers, and integrations to ensure the seamless operation of the manufacturing shop floor.

Systems Engineering Operations Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot applications, OS, databases, infrastructure, and integrations
• Support Linux and Windows environments
• Conduct log analysis and root-cause investigation
• Handle app installation, configuration, upgrades, deployment, and maintenance
• Develop scripting/automation for support, monitoring, and deployment
• Perform systems analysis, technical documentation, and integration work
• Collaborate across application, infrastructure, vendor, and business teams
• Support production-impacting issues and provide after-hours support when needed
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments

Systems Engineering Operations Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
• Experience in Linux/Windows administration or support
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Shell, PowerShell, Python, SQL, C/C++, JavaScript
• Expertise in log analysis
• Knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server
• Experience with app deployment, configuration, and maintenance
• Understanding of web apps, backend services, APIs, and integrations
• Familiarity with server/virtualization/container infrastructure

Systems Engineering Operations Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Exposure to OT/manufacturing technologies such as PLC, Kepware, Aveva, Rockwell FactoryTalk, OPC, Modbus, RFID
• Experience with Red Hat Linux, RPM, shell scripting
• Familiarity with Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory
• Knowledge of VMware
• Understanding of ITIL/change management
