Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a Tactical Operational Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per week).
Role Overview:
This role provides tactical and operational cyber threat intelligence to support BMO’s security, fraud prevention, incident response, and risk management objectives. The analyst monitors the evolving cyber threat landscape, assesses threats relevant to BMO and the financial sector, and delivers actionable intelligence to enhance cyber defense. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is key to strengthening the organization’s cyber resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, triage, and assess incoming cyber threat intelligence from internal and external sources.
- Conduct continuous cyber event monitoring and escalate credible threats and incidents to the Incident Response Centre and stakeholders.
- Identify emerging threats, vulnerabilities, threat actors, campaigns, and trends impacting BMO and the financial sector.
- Collect, correlate, and analyze threat intelligence to support cyber defense, security operations, fraud prevention, and incident response.
- Assess threat actors, malware, ransomware activity, and adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for business impact and risk exposure.
- Produce intelligence reports, threat advisories, alerts, briefings, and situational awareness products for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support incident investigations with intelligence analysis, threat context, attribution insights, and indicators of compromise (IOCs).
- Develop and maintain threat actor profiles, attack trend analyses, and sector-specific intelligence assessments.
- Collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, Fraud, Vulnerability Management, and other cybersecurity teams to enhance detection and response capabilities.
- Engage with industry partners and information-sharing organizations to gather and share relevant threat information.
- Brief stakeholders and leadership on significant cyber threats, risks, and recommended actions.
- Contribute to improving cyber threat intelligence processes, monitoring practices, and reporting standards.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence or related cybersecurity operations and incident response.
- Strong understanding of threat actors, attack trends, vulnerabilities, and the financial sector threat environment.
- Ability to analyze and contextualize cyber threat data from multiple sources.
- Proven ability to produce clear, concise, and actionable intelligence products for diverse audiences.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with Splunk.
- Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms (TIPs).
- Previous experience in financial institutions or specifically with BMO.
- Experience in cybersecurity or critical infrastructure sectors.
- Relevant postsecondary education.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working in a mid-sized, collaborative cyber intelligence team.
- Demonstrated ability to support intelligence-driven investigations and threat hunting activities.
- Proven track record of engaging with industry partners and information-sharing organizations.
- Ability to adapt to evolving cyber threat landscapes and contribute to continuous process improvements.
