Job Description
Technical WriterOn behalf of our public sector client we are seeking a Technical Writer to support the documentation of processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), online help and training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, write, edit, and manage various documents, such as policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), manuals, job aids and training.
• Produce documentation utilizing provided editing tools such as Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel,
Visio, PowerPoint) and the web-based corporate wiki tool (e.g., SharePoint or Confluence).
Review and suggest improvements for existing documentation formats/layouts, this can include
introducing new formats or styles.
• Verify existing documentation for clarity, brevity and information relevance.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and verify documentation related requirements.
• Gather and verify information through meeting with clients.
• Ensure document life cycle management, including appropriate version controls.
DELIVERABLES
• Meet all tasks, deliverables and milestones provided by the Project Authority;
• Submit all written reports in hard copy and electronically, format to be mutually determined;
• Attend meetings, as requested by the Project Authority
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• University undergraduate degree or diploma or five years of progressive experience in IT.
• A minimum of five years’ experience understanding of IT infrastructure terminology as it is used in
documentation, specifically with those used with networking (LAN/WAN), servers and telephony
systems.
• A minimum of five years’ experience and advanced skills in producing Word, Excel and Visio Pro
documents. (ie. MS Office Suite, Adobe, SharePoint, etc).
• A minimum of five years’ experience and capacity to produce and review technical documents.
• A minimum of five years’ experience creating online help files or systems, training packages, etc.
• A minimum of five years’ experience, knowledge and understanding of software development practices
and lifecycle.
• A minimum of five years’ experience knowledge with ITSG33 or equivalent documented standards.
Secret clearance required with Top Secret eligibility
1-year contract with renewal possibility
Hybrid work in Ottawa

This posting is for a public sector assignment. Compensation will be determined through the competitive bidding process and will be within the approved rate structure for this assignment.
