Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Trade Admin Analyst.
This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2-3 days in office per week during training, then flexible).

Role Overview:
The Trade Admin Analyst supports Global Settlement Operations with a focus on Canadian and U.S. equity trade clearing activities. The role involves processing, reconciling, and overseeing trades to ensure accurate and timely settlement. It contributes to risk mitigation by managing exceptions, maintaining process discipline, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently. Cross-training in related operational functions is also part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and oversee CAD and U.S. equity trade clearing to support accurate, timely settlement.
  • Perform daily reconciliations, investigate breaks, and resolve discrepancies within deadlines and control standards.
  • Research non-routine exceptions, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to improve quality and reduce risk.
  • Escalate unresolved issues and time-sensitive settlement risks to senior team members and management as per procedures.
  • Partner with internal business stakeholders and downstream teams to ensure timely and accurate trade lifecycle fulfillment.
  • Maintain audit trails and ensure compliance with authority levels, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives including planning, testing, and implementation of new or revised procedures.
  • Support operational reporting on service delivery, productivity, and quality metrics, providing updates to management.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and training to teammates and assist with escalations from junior staff.
  • Support additional team functions such as account transfers, cancel/corrects, tax reconciliations, step-outs, and trade upload monitoring.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in capital markets operations, trade support, clearing, or settlements (Canadian and/or U.S. markets).
  • Experience with Canadian BPS and Broadridge platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to investigate breaks and resolve exceptions independently.
  • Proficiency in standard desktop applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of trade lifecycle concepts such as matching, clearing, settlement, reconciliations, and exception management.
  • Understanding of operational risk controls, audit trail requirements, and regulatory environment in capital markets.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with systems such as BPS/ADP, GEMS, IMatch, Global Framework, and portals like DTC, OCC, Arrow, CDS.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field.
  • Experience supporting process improvements and operational reporting in a capital markets environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
  • Experience providing training and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications

Experience with systems such as BPS/ADP, GEMS, IMatch, Global Framework, and portals like DTC, OCC, Arrow, CDS.: 1 - 3 years (Desired)
Experience in capital markets operations, trade support, clearing, or settlements (Canadian and/or U.S. markets).: 4 - 4 years (Required)
Experience with Canadian BPS and Broadridge platforms.: 4 - 4 years (Required)
