Unix/Linux Administrator 

Location: Canada (Hybrid) 12 days on-site a month in Ottawa preferred. Open to remote work candidates.  
Duration: 12-Month Contract with Potential Extension
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
Security Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret-level security clearance

Procom is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Administrator to support enterprise infrastructure environments. This role is ideal for a systems professional with strong Linux administration expertise, automation experience, and a background supporting mission-critical environments.

The successful consultant will be responsible for operating, maintaining, automating, and optimizing Unix/Linux platforms while collaborating with infrastructure and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and administer enterprise Solaris 11 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8/9 environments.
• Perform operating system administration, maintenance, patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
• Assist with planning, installation, configuration, and deployment of Linux servers.
• Utilize Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform for system management and automation.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including:
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Build guides
  • Operational support documentation
• Participate in on-call support rotations and occasional after-hours maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support CI/CD processes and infrastructure automation efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience administering Red Hat Linux 8/9 environments utilizing Red Hat Satellite.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting Solaris 11 environments.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform and infrastructure automation.
• Strong Unix/Linux system administration expertise.
• Experience with scripting, packaging, and server hardware support.
• Experience working within DevOps environments.
• Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in highly regulated or security-sensitive environments.
• Experience with enterprise infrastructure operations and automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of security hardening and compliance best practices.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
